Books and Print Media

The design of books and print media includes typesetting, layout, and interior book design. There is a lot more that goes into that process than you might think. Typesetting involves more than just putting the manuscript into pages of the right dimensions for print; it requires a careful eye to create aesthetically pleasing margins and gutters, and professional looking headers and footers. It also includes the mitigation of stacks and rivers and resolution of overly loose or tight lines, all of which are visually distracting anomalies in the text.

Ebooks and Electronic Media

As your ebook designer I will create a reflowable text, which is one that can be resized to fit any e-reader and their provided fonts and sizes. Since ebooks can be resized, many of the print typographic techniques aren’t applicable, but creating professional-grade ebooks and other electronic media requires a different set of skills. I will create accessibility features for both text and images, as well as providing the necessary file types and sizes for each ebook vendor on which you plan to list your ebook.
